Developing a Digital Marketing Plan

Digital marketing has changed the face of the business world within the last decade. If smaller businesses want to be heard, they need to reach out to their audience with an online presence. Sure, the easiest way for a business to appear online is with a website, but it doesn’t stop there. There are many elements that factor into a digital marketing plan.

Outlining Your Online Appearance

  • Brand Presence - The name and image of your brand are the first thing that should be thought about. How do you want your business identified? What makes your business unique?

  • Targeted Audience - Every business will have a different targeted audience. Think about what your brand or product is and who would be the most interested. You want to focus your energy on selling your brand to the appropriate audience.

  • Strong Content - Having strong content is key. Creating posts, videos, blogs, etc. about your company will better reach your targeted audience. They will want to engage in what you have to say that can relate to what they want.

  • Optimization - This is the best way to get your brand known online. Search engine optimization allows your company to come up first in searches. If your audience is searching for you, you want to be found.

Creating Your Brand

  • Design - Once you have established your brand presence, you need to take it to the next level. Have a website designed. Make sure the website portrays your brand effectively.

  • Logo and Slogan - Another element of your brand’s design requires a logo and slogan. How will your brand be recognized? Remember, image is everything. The online world is all about visuals.

  • Story - What story are you trying to tell your customers? What should your audience know about your brand? Having a good understanding of what your brand stands for will show your consumers how much your business means to you.

Launch Your Business

  • Social Media - Once you set up social media accounts for your business, you can begin posting content related to your brand. Your consumer’s will engage in what you have to say about your brand.

  • Ad Campaign - Creating online ads is a great way to promote the launch of your business online. Most consumers research companies online before they go to the actual establishments. While they are searching, your ad will pop up and grab their attention. Now they are curious to see what the ad has to offer.

  • Call-to-action - Now that you have your consumer’s attention-- with a new website, new designs, and strong content posted-- provide call-to-action. Post newsletters, coupons, events, anything that will draw your consumer to your business.

Developing a digital marketing plan might be different for every business. Whichever way your business decides to approach your online presence, just be sure to hit all of the key elements to be successful. Good luck on your next digital marketing plan!
